To apply to Spartathlon 2022, runners need to have fulfilled at least one (1) of the following criteria within the years 2020, 2021, 2022 (up to February 25th):

INTERNATIONAL RACES
α) Cover a 120 km (men) or 110 km distance (women) within 12-hours.
b) Finish a 100-mile race in 21:00 hours (men) or 22:00 hours (women).
c) Finish Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run, within 24:00 hours (men) or 25:00 hours (women).
d) Cover at least 180 km (men) or 170 km (women) in a 24-hour race.
e) Finish a non-stop 200-220 km race within 29:00 hours (men) or 30:00 hours (women).
f) Finish UltraBalaton (221 km) in 31:00 hours (men) or 32:00 hours (women)
g) Finish a longer than 220 km non-stop race within 36:00 hours (men) or 37:00 hours (women).
h) Finish Badwater race within 39:00 hours (men) or 40:00 hours (women).
i) Finish Grand Union Canal Race within 34:00 hours (men) or 35:00 hours (women).
j) Finish Sakura Michi 250-km race in 36:00 hours
k) Finish Yamaguchi 100 Hagi-O-Kan Maranic 250-km race within 42:00 hours (men) or 43:00 hours (women).
l) Cover a distance of at least 280 km (men) or 260 km (women) in a 48-hour race.

d) Finish “ROUT” Rodopi Advendurun 100-mile race within 32:00 hours (men) or 33:00 hours (women).
e) Finish Dolichos Race Delphi-Olympia 255 km within 42:00 hours (men) or 43:00 hours (women).
f) Finish VFUT Paranesti 100 miles race within 32:00 hours (men) or 33:00 hours (women).
g) Finish Dromos Athanaton 142 km race within 17:00 hours men or 18:00 hours (women).
h) Finish FROZEN PEAKS 261 km race within 60:00 hours.

Kennekuk Road Runners 29th Annual Event.  8 Hour Ultra marathon in memory of Scott Hathaway and in honor of Ultra25marathon Legend Rob Apple.

Registration will close when field is full.

There will be NO refunds, deferrals or transfers of division.  No exceptions.  KRR does not handle the Active refund insurance program.

Friday, 8/9/19, we will have a one-loop “Baby Howl at the Moon” meet the course for participants and their family & friends at 6:00 PM.  Cool Baby Howl Awards.  FREE PASTA DINNER from 5PM to 5:45PM for participants.  All others, $5.00.  Purchase tickets with registration.

PACKET PICK UP THURSDAY 3:00pm TO 7:00pm AND  FRIDAY FROM 10:00AM TO 7:00PM.  Come early to claim your spot along the start finish area.  Very Limited Pickup SATURDAY FROM 6:15 TO 7:00 AM AT THE PARK.

Event details and schedule

Race starts at 7:30 AM. at the Big Red Barn.  The slightly altered course from years-past is a 3.5 mile loop that is 75% trail, 20% fine rock and 5% asphalt.  One long gradual downhill and one steep short uphill known on Strava as the Howl Hill of Death!  Halfway Aid station with Jimmy Buffett theme with margaritas on the last loop. Plus additional aid at the top of the hill of death and start/finish. Loops are counted by personal scorers for each age division.  You must check in with scorer each loop.  YOUR SCORER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.  In last 1/2 hour, runners and walkers can do a 1/4 Mile out and back course for the final 30 minutes.

Spartathlon is the event that brings this deed to attention today by drawing a legend out of the depths of history. The idea for its creation is belongs to John Foden, a British RAF Wing Commander. As a lover of Greece and student of ancient Greek history, Foden stopped his reading of Herodotus’ narration regarding Pheidippides, puzzled and wondering if a modern man could cover the distance from Athens to Sparta, i.e. 250 kms, within 36 hours.

Spartathlon é o evento que traz esta escritura de atenção hoje desenhando uma lenda das profundezas da história. A ideia para a sua criação é pertence a John Foden , a RAF Wing Commander britânico. Como um amante da Grécia e estudante de história grega antiga , Foden parou sua leitura da narração de Heródoto sobre Pheidippides , confuso e se perguntando se um homem moderno poderia cobrir a distância de Atenas a Esparta, ou seja, 250 kms , dentro de 36 horas .
